Story Overview

In Lost In Random, fate is determined by a cursed black dice when children turn 12. The game follows Even, a girl who embarks on a journey across the six realms of Random to rescue her sister, Odd, who the wicked Queen of Random has abducted. The originality of this story is intriguing, offering a fresh narrative centered on dice deciding one’s fate.

Gameplay

Gameplay can be challenging, especially if you roll low on the dice, limiting your ability to choose stronger cards in combat. The game’s card-based mechanics emphasize strategy, so don't stack your deck with only high-scoring cards—you can only use what you roll.

Even’s dice, unlike the Queen’s, is alive, and as you progress, you’ll unlock the ability to roll up to a score of six. Exploration includes wandering through atmospheric realms, solving simple puzzles, and completing side quests from NPCs. Be sure to explore thoroughly and interact with the NPCs to unlock hidden quests and rewards.

The gameplay also has a nostalgic feel, reminiscent of old PS2 games, making it a great choice for anyone who misses that era of gaming.

Art Style

The game's art style is dark and whimsical, with a Burton-esque, almost claymation aesthetic. It perfectly complements the game’s strange, eerie tone, reminding players of Tim Burton films like The Nightmare Before Christmas and Corpse Bride.

Length and Conclusion

The main storyline takes about 12½ hours to complete, but players aiming for 100% completion may spend around 17½ hours exploring every aspect of the game. While the story is captivating, I wish there had been more depth and dramatic moments, given the vastness of the game's world.
